"Let me put it simply. I would rather spend an afternoon picking the dirt from underneath my nails than subject myself to the utter torture that is shopping. There is not a single thing about shopping that appeals to me. The tedious task of searching through endless rows and piles of clothing just to find that you are only even remotely partial to 1 in every 25 garments, but it doesn't end there. Next you have to try things on. Take off...put on, undo...do up, pull up...pull down. Then you get to stare at yourself in the mirror, analyzing the way you look, contemplating what the garment says about you. Can I pull this off? Is it me? Will I really wear this? Is it worth the money? Do I look short in this? Do I look fat in this? Does it make my hips look too big or my head too small? Finally, you inevitably make your way to the counter still unsure if you should purchase the items you've spent hours searching for, trying on and debating over, but you don't want your time and efforts to be in vain. So you make the purchase. If you're lucky your money, time and effort can prove to be fruitful and shopping can be a rewarding experience. But if you're someone like me this is not often the case and shopping inevitably becomes an outright phobia.

With full understanding of my fear and loathing for shopping Jana Stern took me under her wing. She showed me a side of shopping that I had never known before. Her passion was inspiring, her expertise - reassuring, her efficiency and know-how - utterly astonishing and her withstanding 'imperturbation' throughout the process was exceptionally encouraging.
The experience was not only tolerable, but I dare say it was rather enjoyable. I was beginning to see why shopping might be such a favored past time among so many. I didn't waste time looking at the clothes that wouldn't suit my body type nor the clothes that were out of my price range. Almost everything I tried on was a perfect fit and not just in size, but style too! I can honestly say I had never purchased so many things at once, let alone so many pieces I felt genuinely good about purchasing. The experience was empowering, which was a nice change to the usual feelings of debasement that usually accompany a day of shopping. From Do's To Shoes are the Spiderman to my 'Mary Janes.' ;) "

I was the definition of “stuck in a rut” before From Do’s to Shoes stepped in. My closet was not just a place for my clothes, but a museum of every event and “phase” of my life. Here was the belt that I’d definitely wear once I got something to match it. There was the shirt that I-can’t-quite-remember-who gave to me for my birthday six years ago. “I’ll wear it one day, I swear.” I simply couldn’t bring myself to part with a single article of clothing. Each piece seemed to have some historical significance, so that my closet was bursting with a hodgepodge of old clothes, new clothes, pilled sweaters, and white t-shirts that were now a sickly grey colour. Not only was I out of room, but I couldn’t break the cycle of wearing the same couple of outfits I had been rocking for the past two years. I was frozen in time.
That’s when I found From Do’s to Shoes – or rather, they found me. With Jana Stern's help, I was finally able to sift through my mess of a closet and learn to admit which things I was only keeping for...well, I didn’t even really know why. I learned how to distinguish between clothing with actual sentimental value, and clothing that was just taking up space. This cleansing of my closet felt absolutely fabulous! And all of the pieces that we set aside but were still in good condition were donated, so that they could actually be put to good use.
But From Do’s to Shoes Styling did not abandon me there. Jana brought me out shopping to any stores that I requested, giving me suggestions but without pressuring me. She helped me bypass the same styles that I felt so stuck in, and encouraged me to test out others that I had thought about, but was too intimidated to try. Some worked, and others...well, not so much. But the whole process brought me out of my clothing cocoon, and I can now walk into a store and boldly try on anything that catches my eye, whether I think that it’s “me” or not. From Do’s to Shoes Styling taught me that there doesn’t have to be one “signature style” me; I can be as versatile as I wish to be. Within two afternoons, I had a fresh, organized, clean closet, with new pieces adding in a bit more spice.
I could not be happier with the service I received from From Do’s to Shoes Styling. All of the closet-cleaning and shopping were tailored to suit my needs, enlarging my comfort zone without any of the pushiness or intimidation that can be found in most stores. By helping me learn which pieces suit me, I feel much better and much more open when going out shopping. Jana brought me out of my clothing rut and has given me a new confidence in my style and myself!
